There are few better ways to bring an outfit up a level than by wearing a gray blazer. It’s the perfect business casual piece that can take a typical outfit and instantly make it smart.
Of course, any blazer would have the same effect, but I particularly like gray ones because the color quite simply goes with a huge variety of other shades. For example, you can match gray with blue, red, black, white, or other neutrals. Considering these are what the majority of my wardrobe is made up of, it makes perfect sense that a gray blazer would play a part.
I typically wear my gray blazer with jeans or chinos. I do sometimes wear it with dress pants on occasions when I really need to dress up. On top, I often wear a light sweater or a shirt. It all just depends on the level of formality I’m going for.

With Beige Chinos and a Navy Sweater

Wearing a gray blazer with a navy sweater over a shirt and beige chinos is a super-easy way to look smart without overdoing things. What’s more, you can easily whip off the blazer if you get too hot and you still have a great-looking outfit. I finished the outfit with sneakers to keep the casual vibes going.
What to Wear Under a Gray Blazer 👇
Wear an oxford shirt, dress shirt, or sweater when you want to stay smart. Or wear a t-shirt or a short sleeve shirt when you are going for a more casual look. The great news is that a gray blazer works well in both types of fit.
With a Striped Top and Blue Pants

I love wearing a Breton stripe shirt with navy chinos, and a gray blazer is a smart way to finish the look off. The colors go great together and overall it’s a smart, clean outfit. The white base of the Breton shirt means the white sneakers are the perfect choice to finish the look.

This gray blazer outfit is similar to the first one but a little more casual due to the black jeans and the lack of a shirt. It’s still a great-looking outfit though and one you could easily wear anywhere from the bar to more casual workplaces.
What Pants To Wear With A Blazer👇
You can wear smart jeans, chinos, slacks, or even dress pants with a blazer. It all depends on the type of look you want to go for. I personally wouldn’t wear more casual items like distressed denim or combat pants.
With Indigo Jeans and Chelsea Boots

Black and grey go great together which is why I chose the black sweater and leather Chelsea boots. The slim dark blue jeans are smarter than a regular pair of denim jeans and therefore finish the outfit off well.
With Gray Pants and a Black Sweater

If you want to go for a more formal look just wear the gray blazer with gray dress pants and black shoes.
With a Dash of Red

Red goes really well with gray. If you want an easy way to try this color combination, wear a red tie and a shirt with your blazer. You could also try a pocket square, or a t-shirt or shirt with a red pattern.

Adding a splash of color via a tie, pattern, or accessory is an easy way to make your outfit more interesting without risking it becoming too loud.
Under a Light Overcoat

Sometimes the outside elements mean you need more than a blazer to stay warm and dry. A smart mac or overcoat is the perfect item to finish off this outfit. This gray blazer outfit is quite smart, but the mac would work equally well over a more casual outfit with jeans.
With Black Pants and a Tie

Gray blazers are a great separates piece for when you don’t want to wear a full suit. This is because they go well with other common suit colors like navy or black. I like how the gray and black dress pants in this outfit produce a monochrome outfit.
With a Casual Shirt and Chinos

In summer consider wearing your gray blazer with a casual shirt. I wore mine with a camp collar shirt. It would also work well with a regular short-sleeve shirt, a polo-shirt or even a t-shirt.
With Indigo Jeans and a White Shirt

This is the classic business casual jeans look. Wear dark jeans with a white shirt, no tie, and shoes. Make sure the dark jeans are slim or straight so the outfit doesn’t get too sloppy.

People typically wear jeans with sneakers but jeans can go equally well with smarter footwear, you just have to keep some things in mind to get the pairing right. Read more about how to pair jeans with dress shoes here.
With A T-Shirt and Sneakers

This is a super casual gray blazer outfit. Just put the blazer over a t-shirt and chinos. I chose a blue t-shirt because the color goes great with the blazer and the beige chinos. I finished the look off with minimalist white sneakers. Canvas shoes would be another good option here.
